This paper presents a translation of Aleksandr Pushkin's letter in response to the text First philosophical letter, by Pyotr Tchaadayev, with historical contextualization, to discuss its insertion in the film Mirror, by Andrei Tarkovsky, built through fictional, literary, historical and autobiographical elements of the director. We consider that Tarkovsky's use of the letter reflects the need to question the historical canon in the face of events such as the Second World War, and that the director constructs his feature film based on personal and subjective elements to establish a counterpoint to the official narratives of history, in a similar way to Pushkin in his letter.
