Abstract
The curricularization of university extension, established by Resolution CNE/CES No. 7/2018, has strengthened the integration between higher education and society. However, the knowledge generated through these practices remains largely fragmented and insufficiently systematized, revealing a gap in the articulation between extension activities and knowledge management (KM). In response to this problem, this article proposes the GCED framework (Knowledge Management in Digitally Mediated Curricularized University Extension), a theoretical-conceptual model that adapts the SECI model developed by Nonaka and Takeuchi to the context of digitally mediated university extension. The study adopts a qualitative and propositional approach, grounded in a structured theoretical review of the literature on KM, university extension, and educational technologies. The GCED framework is organized into five sequential layers with continuous feedback, spanning from the diagnosis of community needs to the constitution of institutional knowledge memory, and delimits the role of generative artificial intelligence across the SECI model phases. Specifically, it positions this technology as an amplifier in the externalization and combination stages of knowledge, while preserving the central role of human interaction in the socialization and internalization processes. The model offers a sociotechnical approach to systematizing extension-generated knowledge, fostering cumulative institutional learning. As a theoretical-conceptual proposition, the empirical validation of the framework in real institutional contexts constitutes an agenda for future research.
