A presente proposta de dossiê tem como objetivo reunir e fomentar reflexões contemporâneas sobre a língua portuguesa a partir de diferentes perspectivas teóricas e metodológicas, contemplando contribuições da Linguística Aplicada, da Linguística e dos Estudos Literários. Considerando a centralidade da língua portuguesa como prática social, histórica e cultural, torna-se fundamental promover um espaço de diálogo interdisciplinar que evidencie tanto a diversidade de usos quanto os múltiplos contextos de produção de sentido nos quais a língua se insere. Nos últimos anos, observa-se uma ampliação significativa das pesquisas que abordam o português em sua heterogeneidade, seja em contextos de ensino e aprendizagem, seja na análise de práticas discursivas, variações linguísticas, políticas linguísticas e produções literárias. Esse movimento revela não apenas a vitalidade do campo, mas também a necessidade de integração entre diferentes áreas que, embora possuam tradições próprias, compartilham o interesse pela linguagem como fenômeno complexo e multifacetado. No âmbito da Linguística Aplicada, destacam-se investigações voltadas ao ensino de língua materna e adicional, às tecnologias digitais, à formação de professores e às práticas de letramento em contextos diversos. Já na Linguística, ampliam-se os estudos sobre descrição, variação, mudança linguística e análise do discurso, contribuindo para uma compreensão mais aprofundada das dinâmicas do português em diferentes comunidades. Por sua vez, os Estudos Literários oferecem perspectivas fundamentais para a análise estética, histórica e cultural das produções em língua portuguesa, problematizando cânones, vozes marginalizadas e novas formas de expressão.
This dossier proposal aims to bring together and foster contemporary reflections on the Portuguese language from diverse theoretical and methodological perspectives, encompassing contributions from Applied Linguistics, Linguistics, and Literary Studies. Considering the central role of Portuguese as a social, historical, and cultural practice, it is essential to promote a space for interdisciplinary dialogue that highlights both the diversity of its uses and the multiple contexts of meaning-making in which the language is embedded. In recent years, there has been a significant expansion of research addressing Portuguese in its heterogeneity, whether in teaching and learning contexts or in the analysis of discursive practices, linguistic variation, language policies, and literary production. This movement demonstrates not only the vitality of the field but also the need for greater integration among different areas which, despite their distinct traditions, share a common interest in language as a complex and multifaceted phenomenon. Within Applied Linguistics, notable studies have focused on first and additional language teaching, digital technologies, teacher education, and literacy practices across diverse contexts. In Linguistics, research on description, variation, language change, and discourse analysis has expanded, contributing to a deeper understanding of the dynamics of Portuguese across different communities. Literary Studies, in turn, provide essential perspectives for the aesthetic, historical, and cultural analysis of works produced in Portuguese, questioning canons, foregrounding marginalized voices, and engaging with new forms of expression.
