Saussure e a língua como objeto de formalização da ciência linguística

In this article, through a theoretical-epistemological approach, we aim to discuss the formalization of language as an object of linguistics and the epistemological synthesis operated by Saussure in the Course in General Linguistics (1916). We question in what sense it can be said that Saussure broke with comparative grammar by establishing the "epistemological break" capable of founding linguistic science. Thus, we conclude that it is the theorization of "errors" recognized by Saussure in relation to the comparative method that allows him to operate an epistemological break capable of simultaneously continuing and surpassing comparative grammar, and thus being recognized as the founder of a true science of linguistics by unveiling its true object and its method of description and analysis of languages: the synchronic method.
