This paper’s objective is to generate understandings about the inscription of the mongrelism ideology in the Alt-Right’s discourse on Twitter-X. Bearing this goal in mind, this research resorts to a theoretical framework based on three pillars: 1) a reflection about the ideology of mongrelism (Rodrigues, 2013; Tiburi, 2021; Schommer, 2012); 2) a brief discussion about the historical and ideological pathway of the Alternative Right’s movement; 3) a review of the discourse conception espoused by Critical Discourse Analysis (Fairclough, 2003). Guided by this theoretical beacon, the process of data generation followed four key criteria: the presence of ideas based on the mongrelism, the adherence of the analyzed tweet to the Alternative Right’s agenda, the degree of dialogicality and the post’s adequateness to the research constraints. Two tweets were selected and examined with the aid of the research’s analytical toolkit. The analyses highlight the mix of theories and narratives that belong to the Global Alternative Right’s repertoire with theses based on the mongrelism. This blend of ideas is the result of the discourse construction of a narrative of ideological radicalization, promotion of hatred towards Brazil and dehumanization of Brazilians.
