Abstract

Introduction: Retirement is a transitional phase involving changes in habits, withdrawal from work, and loss of labor identity, affecting family and social dynamics. The imminence of this phase brings expectations, doubts, and new feelings. Objective:
This study aims to describe the perception of the employees of the Federal University of Alagoas (UFAL) regarding retirement, with the goal of constructing guidelines for a Retirement Education Program aligned with their needs and expectations. Method:
This is a descriptive, cross-sectional, and quantitative study. The sample will consist of administrative staff and professors from UFAL who have already met or will meet the retirement requirements in the next ten years. Data collection will be conducted through an online questionnaire (Google Forms), disseminated via the university's institutional channels. Expected Results:The study aims to identify the themes and concerns of employees regarding retirement, such as financial planning, social security legislation, health, professional recognition, and social ties. The research will help create a Retirement Education program that meets the needs of UFAL employees, providing a more planned and smooth transition. Additionally, it will provide essential information to adapt the program's guidelines, reducing uncertainties and stress, and can serve as a reference for other institutions.
