A technè de O Príncipe de Maquiavel: tratado ou manual?

Abstract

As we delve into the anachronisms present in various contemporary best-sellers, we can understand how the content of Machiavelli's The Prince takes on the contours of precepts for obtaining power, commercial success, among other objectives, thus reflecting on the possibility of this work being a political treatise or manual. Initially, the Florentine author himself indicates in the Discorsi, without extensive development, The Prince is a treatise. However, in this article, we outline, in an essay-like manner, some considerations on how Machiavelli's "little pamphlet" could be configured as a model manual, responsible for providing a theoretical framework that would extend beyond its own creation, that is, the historical context in which it was inserted. Machiavellian approach to the current situation, presenting the hypothesis that Machiavelli's The Prince can be interpreted as a kind of technè in the sense of the ancient Greeks based on the works: Work and Days of Hesiod and Politician of Plato.
