Glimpses of everyday life: an artistic perspective

Abstract

This experience report presents a project developed with third-year high school students from a public state school in Alagoas, Brazil, within the framework of the Professor Mentor, My Life Project Program. The project aimed to understand how students perceive the territory in which they live, strengthen feelings of belonging and identity, and promote artistic expression based on these experiences. The methodology adopted was qualitative and participatory, involving discussion circles, photographic records, affective cartography, the application and analysis of questionnaires, and collaborative artistic production. The results highlighted the strengthening of student protagonism, increased engagement and school attendance, as well as the appreciation of local identity and the development of socio-emotional skills. It is concluded that art constitutes a powerful tool for reading the territory, expressing experiences, and promoting social transformation within the school context.
