Counter colonial punk? Poetics of revolt and insurgent suvjectivities in the brazilian scene

Abstract

This article develops an embodied theoretical-methodological reflection grounded in dissident and counter-colonial autoethnography to examine the internal contradictions of the punk scene in Brazil and its entanglement with the colonial matrix of power. Drawing from situated experiences in the Federal District, the research adopts the author’s body-corpus — peripheral, fluid, neurodivergent, and dissident — as both an analytical tool and an empirical field. The aim is to denaturalize the white, cisheteronormative, ableist, and patriarchal pacts that persist within resistance spaces, revealing the limits of a punk movement that claims to be libertarian while reproducing structural normativity. Mobilizing decolonial critique and Black and feminist epistemologies, the text deepens the concepts of counter-coloniality and intersectionality. Through the analysis of zines and embodied narrative, the article advances a poetics of revolt that disrupts the mythology of white marginality and affirms a radical aesthetic committed to antiracist, anti-patriarchal, and anti-LGBTQIA+ struggles.
