About the Journal
The Caeté Journal of Human Sciences is a biannual publication, created in 2019 within the Federal University of Alagoas (UFAL), Sertão Campus, as a joint initiative of the Coordination of the Center for Archaeological and Historical Research and Studies (NUPEAH) and the Board of the Bachelor's Degree in History. Since its creation, the journal has established itself as a space for interdisciplinary scientific dissemination dedicated to the promotion, appreciation, and socialization of research in the field of Human Sciences.
FOCUS AND SCOPE
The main focus of the Caeté Journal is the dissemination of completed or ongoing academic and scientific studies of a regional, national, and international nature that contribute to the advancement of discussions and research practices in the areas of Anthropology, Archaeology, History, Philosophy, and Sociology. Furthermore, the journal encourages dialogue between different theoretical and methodological perspectives, welcoming interdisciplinary and comparative approaches, especially those that reflect on Brazilian contexts and their connections with the American continent. The journal receives manuscripts from researchers of diverse institutional backgrounds and countries, promoting a constant dialogue between different intellectual traditions.
HISTORY AND SCOPE
Since 2019, Revista Caeté has established itself as an important initiative for the circulation of scientific knowledge in the Humanities, especially in Northeast Brazil, but with growing national and international impact. Its semi-annual nature and the possibility of publishing thematic issues allow for the deepening of contemporary discussions, encouraging critical reflection and exchange among researchers. The multidisciplinary scope of the journal positions it as a relevant vehicle for both the Brazilian scientific community and foreign researchers interested in Latin American themes.
EDITORIAL POLICY
The Caeté Journal of Human Sciences publishes contributions in Portuguese, Spanish, and English, encompassing different types of manuscripts: original articles, review or update articles, essays, book reviews, dissertation or thesis abstracts, notes, unpublished documents, interviews, and scientific videos. However, field research reports are not accepted for publication. All submission categories are governed by the Instructions for Authors, available on the journal's website.
Submissions are evaluated according to the chronological order of receipt, except in the case of thematic or special issues. The editorial process is conducted with scientific rigor and transparency, with peer review being the central pillar of the journal's quality policy. The average time between receipt of the submission and the editorial decision is 3 to 6 months, and the same interval is estimated for the period between the editorial decision and final publication, resulting in an average production time of approximately 12 months per article.
OBJECTIVES
The main objective of the Caeté Journal is to promote the dissemination of scientific knowledge and critical reflections within the scope of the Humanities, contributing to the strengthening of research, teaching, and university extension. The journal also seeks to stimulate interdisciplinary dialogue, serve as a space for scientific reflection and debate, and foster the consolidation of research networks and interinstitutional cooperation.
TARGET AUDIENCE
The journal is aimed at the entire academic and scientific community in the areas of Brazilian Archaeology and related fields, as well as researchers, professors, graduate students, and professionals interested in debates and investigations on the humanities and the historical, cultural, and social dimensions of societies.
COMMITMENT TO OPEN SCIENCE
The Caeté Journal of Humanities adopts the principles of Open Science, promoting the democratization of access to knowledge and encouraging transparent practices in the scientific production process. In this sense, it encourages free access to published content, the sharing of research data, the ethical use of sources, and the strengthening of open scientific collaboration. The journal reaffirms its commitment to the free dissemination of scientific knowledge and the accessibility of information as pillars of its editorial policy.
