A reflexão sobre a morte entre Sêneca e Pascal

Abstract

This work aims to examine the notion of death through the philosophical perspectives of two thinkers distinguished by their historical periods and theoretical foundations: Seneca and Pascal. The former draws upon Roman Stoicism as his theoretical framework, while the latter derives from the conception of fallen human nature as formulated by a strand of seventeenth-century French Christianity. Despite their profound differences, both philosophers maintained that proper reflection on death dispels fear and significantly impacts our way of living.
