Abstract
Introduction: Adolescence, covering the age range of 10 to 19 years, is a phase of the continuous human growth process, characterized by complex physical, emotional, and social changes. This study aims to report the extension experience developed with students from 6th to 9th grade in a public school in the municipality of Arapiraca/AL, with the purpose of discussing the topic of sexual education with this audience. Experience Report: The activity took place in two stages. First, we presented a video on the importance of personal care during adolescence, followed by a brief debate with 6th and 9th-grade students, aiming to encourage questions about health to demystify doubtful concepts. Through a shared online document, in the second stage, we presented the demystified concepts, providing information on sexual education, body care, and healthy habits based on scientific evidence. Discussion: Understanding adolescence as a period of discoveries and decisions that impact the future, it becomes essential to address the topic of sexual education during this stage, especially in public educational institutions, where this discussion is often absent from school curricula. This absence may contribute to the occurrence of problems among young people, such as an increase in early pregnancies. Conclusion: The initiative proved to be successful, as significant changes were observed in young people's perspectives, both regarding their own bodies and issues related to sexuality and abuse prevention.
