Active methodologies have been established as strategies aligned with the National Curriculum Guidelines within the context of the expansion and interiorization of higher education in health in Brazil, as they foster critical, reflective, and socially integrated training. Understanding how faculty and students perceive these methodologies is essential to evaluate their consolidation within the educational process, in light of the Theory of Social Representations. The objective of this study was to compare the social representations of faculty and medical students regarding active methodologies in a private Higher Education Institution located in the interior of Bahia. This is a field study with a mixed-methods approach and a descriptive, exploratory, and comparative design. A total of 73 participants (23 faculty members and 50 students) completed a structured and semi-structured questionnaire. Descriptive statistics were used to analyze quantitative data, while thematic content analysis was applied to qualitative data. High agreement was observed between the groups regarding the recognition of active methodologies as a distinct approach that promotes teaching-learning processes, continuous learning, and pedagogical interaction. Four main categories emerged: student protagonism and autonomy; meaningful learning and integration between theory and practice; strengthening of the faculty-student relationship; and implementation challenges, such as workload and the need for institutional alignment. It can be inferred that social representations, organized around protagonism, knowledge contextualization, and faculty mediation, show strong convergence, indicating symbolic consolidation of the proposal in the studied context.
