Personal knowledge and information management is an approach observed in the last 15 years in international literature, which complements the organizational perspective adopted to understand information and knowledge management. It arises from the integration of the subjects personal information management, personal knowledge management and information literacy. This study, carried out through a bibliographic review, sought to analyze the international literature on the topic of personal knowledge and information management in Scopus and Web of Science databases, using the statistical method and content analysis. Specifically, we aimed to: a) identify the studies retrieved regarding to the thematic emphasis on personal information management and personal knowledge management; b) verify how information literacy is approached; c) analyze the proposed solutions for the problems identified in the studied contexts. As a result, it was observed that publications on the topic are still incipient. Although 60% of the articles presented the themes of personal information management and personal knowledge management together, only half of them addressed the themes in an integrated way. The topic of information literacy was identified in 60% of the presented literature, demonstrating its importance in personal information management and personal knowledge management publications. The solution proposals on personal knowledge and information management improvement were, for the most part, strategies involving information literacy, indicating a possible tendency towards a human-centered approach.
